Zoom out from an average adult to Concorde
Concorde is too big to show next to an average adult in one picture, so here it is in 2 steps. Each step is drawn to its own scale and zooms out from the step before.
-
Step 1 of 2 Human → Megalodon
A megalodon is about 8.6–15 times as long as an average adult is tall.
Step 1: Human and Megalodon at the same scale. -
Step 2 of 2 Megalodon → Concorde
Concorde is about 2.5–4.1 times as long as a megalodon.
Step 2: Megalodon and Concorde at the same scale.

About Concorde
Concorde was the first supersonic airliner to enter service, carrying passengers across the Atlantic at twice the speed of sound for more than 25 years. It was built jointly by France's Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation. The Smithsonian lists its Air France example at 61.66 m long with a slender delta wing only 25.56 m across.
- Air France donated Concorde F-BVFA to the National Air and Space Museum on June 12, 2003, after its last flight. It had flown 17,824 hours. [1]
- F-BVFA was the first Air France Concorde to open service to Rio de Janeiro, Washington, D.C., and New York. [1]
- It is powered by four Rolls-Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593 Mk 602 engines of 38,050 lb thrust each. [1]
How many fit?
- ≈ 37 × Human · height lined up end to end match the Concorde · length
- ≈ 2,200 × Human · body mass on the scales weigh as much as Concorde · gross weight
- ≈ 2.2 × Basketball court (NBA) · length lined up end to end match the Concorde · length
Counts divide one sourced figure by another. "End to end" uses each object's main measurement; weight and volume rows appear only when both figures are sourced.
How it compares
- 37× Concorde is about 37 times as long as an average adult is tall. See side by side
- 2.2× Concorde is about 2.2 times as long as an NBA basketball court. See side by side
- 1.6× Concorde is about 1.6 times as long as a Boeing 737. See side by side
- 1× Concorde is about as long as an NHL ice hockey rink. See side by side
- 1/1.5 The Statue of Liberty is about 1.5 times as tall as Concorde is long. See side by side
- 1/2 SpaceX's Starship is about 2 times as tall as Concorde is long. See side by side
Factors compare the length of Concorde with each object’s own main measurement (height for a human). Where a size varies, the factor is given as a range.
Notes on these figures
- All figures come from the Smithsonian's record for one aircraft (F-BVFA); British Airways and Air France museum pages were not used.
