Zoom out from an average adult to the CN Tower
The CN Tower is too big to show next to an average adult in one picture, so here it is in 3 steps. Each step is drawn to its own scale and zooms out from the step before.
-
Step 1 of 3 Human → Megalodon
A megalodon is about 8.6–15 times as long as an average adult is tall.
Step 1: Human and Megalodon at the same scale. -
Step 2 of 3 Megalodon → Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza is about 5.6–9.1 times as tall as a megalodon is long.
Step 2: Megalodon and Great Pyramid of Giza at the same scale. -
Step 3 of 3 Great Pyramid of Giza → CN Tower
The CN Tower is about 4 times as tall as the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Step 3: Great Pyramid of Giza and CN Tower at the same scale.

About the CN Tower
The CN Tower is a concrete communications and observation tower in Toronto, built by Canadian National from February 1973 by more than 1,500 workers over 40 months. It was finished on 2 April 1975 and opened to the public on 26 June 1976, and it remained the world's tallest freestanding structure until the Burj Khalifa overtook it. From its base to the tip of its antenna it measures 553.33 m (1,815.5 ft), with observation levels at 346 m and 447 m.
- The shaft was cast with a slipform that climbed on hydraulic jacks and gradually narrowed to give the tower its tapered outline. [3]
- In March 1975 a Sikorsky helicopter nicknamed Olga lifted the antenna into place in 39 pieces. [3]
- At The Top, 447 m up, the tower can sway by almost half a metre in the wind. [2]
- The Glass Floor gives a view 342 m straight down, and the high-speed elevators reach the Main Observation Level in 58 seconds at 22 km/h. [2]
How many fit?
- ≈ 330 × Human · height lined up end to end match the CN Tower · height to top of antenna
- ≈ 2.9 × Gateway Arch · maximum height lined up end to end match the CN Tower · height to top of antenna
Counts divide one sourced figure by another. "End to end" uses each object's main measurement; weight and volume rows appear only when both figures are sourced.
How it compares
- 330× The CN Tower is about 330 times as tall as an average adult. See side by side
- 2.9× The CN Tower is about 2.9 times as tall as the Gateway Arch. See side by side
- 2.1× The CN Tower is about 2.1 times as tall as the Titanic is long. See side by side
- 1.4× The CN Tower is about 1.4 times as tall as a container ship is long. See side by side
- 1× The CN Tower is about as tall as One World Trade Center. See side by side
- 1/1.5 The Burj Khalifa is about 1.5 times as tall as the CN Tower. See side by side
Factors compare the height to top of antenna of the CN Tower with each object’s own main measurement (height for a human). Where a size varies, the factor is given as a range.
Notes on these figures
- A total weight of 117,910 tonnes is widely quoted, but it was not found on a fetched official page, so no mass is stored.
- No official base width was found, so only the height axis is used for the drawing.
- The official history page says the Burj Khalifa overtook it in 2009, while Britannica says it was surpassed by the Burj Dubai in 2007; the description gives no year.
